Before Coming to Class Recommendations:

  • Set up an online BREEZE account so you may save weeks on processing time for renewal.

  • Follow the Steps HERE to Register. Info to complete the online app will be given in class which will be unique for your app.

  • Download the Student Firearms Manual HERE.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • You, the shooter, are expected to know and maintain all 4 Rules of Firearm Safety.

  • All guns need to be unloaded and transported in a bag/box/case. Ammo/Magazines needs to be in a separate bag/box/case.

  • DO NOT handle guns in the parking lot!

  • Requalifications are NOT teaching, coaching or mentoring sessions. You will be responsible for loading, unloading, and clearing any malfunctions you experience.

  • Follow all Range/Property rules, regulations and posted signs.

Read up on the Range FAQs on the Resource Page. Requals are for experienced persons. You are held to a higher standard than a person taking a New Gun Card Class!

Re-qualification is a great time to check your Firearms and Equipment. Please bring your holsters and guns with mags so you can be confident and proficient. The streets are not a place to test gear or equipment. Qualifications are conducted with Duty Gear. Please bring your Duty Belt.

Make sure your Gear, Guns, Mags, and Ammo are squared away, as Instructors will not have time to neglect others to work on or fix your gear.

Additional Information:

Do you charge extra for the last qual with the exam?

No. No extra charge for the exam!

What if I miss a Qualification?

According to State Law, your permit is null and void if the Qualifications are not done on time. Once your permit lapses, you will need to take the new Gun Card Class all over again, which includes the Psych exam and the Fingerprints.

To help prevent this, DA will send out a courtesy email. DA has no control over whether these emails go into your spam. Finally, it is your responsibility to know your expiration dates.

I need help with the renewal application.

DA streamlines all paperwork for your last qualification, and you get a complete package. However, it is your responsibility to either email or upload the application during online Breeze renewal.

Do you sell ammo for the Re-Qualifications?

DA is not a California Ammo Vendor. However, most of the ranges we use do sell ammo. Da highly recommends you bring your own, just in case the range is also out.

What is the additional charge to use the Loaner Firearm?

Nothing. It is not part of the cost. However, it is very much at the instructor's discretion.

Your Shooting Schedule:

Please note the schedule below, this is what DA recommends. You can always refer to the bottom of the Firearms FAQ Page to know your exact date.

IF YOU NEED HELP WITH DATES, BRING ALL PREVIOUS QUALS AND SEE US IN PERSON AT THE LISTED DATES FOR REQUALIFICATIONS.
